It is official; Marshall and I are on the Keto diet! (I’ll give you all a minute for your groans…)
Now, let me begin by saying that we also found the idea of a Ketosys forced diet kind of unhealthy. The reason we decided to go on the Keto diet was simply because we needed to lose some (a lot) weight. So used to be with you all in rolling our eyes at anyone saying they are on the Keto diet, but we have since decided to embrace the trend!
I will not go into long lectures about why Keto is so amazing and how everyone should do it and how healthy I feel. Honestly, I have felt somewhat better than I was feeling and I am down SOME weight, but it all takes time. Whether the diet is healthy or not is up for debate as always, but it currently is working for us, and as a couple it is good for us at the moment so we are just going to go with it. We do not plan to stay on the diet forever. I mean, we are chefs and chefs LOVE carbs!
At the onset, I wondered if my French Cooking would work into the diet. Julia creates some incredibly decadent dishes that require a huge amount of ingredients. I decided I needed to go through the book and see if I can find any dishes that were Keto friendly. I opened the book randomly and was surprised to land on a chicken dish that was diet friendly! I then flipped through the pages and discovered that the majority of the dishes in her book are Keto friendly.
So, basically there will be little to no change in my cooking, and the journey through Julia will continue! (Seems like a waste of breath to tell you all this, doesn’t it?) Now I have no reason to go on and on about finding and cooking Keto Friendly dishes, because they already are! Bring on the Butter!
