The Cookening

Preparations have begun for our trip to Maui, with Marshall cooking off several foods this week: ribs, breakfast burritos, quiche and other foods and such things to keep us fed and happy for our trip. I also ground up 7lbs of beef so we can have burgers on the boat as well (What can’t I do you ask? Sing… I can’t sing…). It will be a tough trip, sitting and watching the beauty of the ocean pass us by for hours on end listening, to great music, and drinking cocktails. It’s such a rough life.

20180723_213725This week has been all about getting ready to set sail on Saturday morning. Fernando has been busy getting the boat in shape by installing new lights and replacing some of the canvas covers with hard plastic covers. He also installed a new grill, which made Marshall very happy! We actually had dinner on the boat the other night to test it out. Marshall made swordfish steak with Beurre Blanc sauce. (white wine and vinegar reduction with butter. Lots and lots of butter…)

As for me, I have been getting all of my electronics in order. I got a new waterproof action camera and new mounts for it as well. I will be able to take 4K video with it. It also has a handy wrist remote! My phone has been cleared up of extra space so I will have no issues with pictures and video from it (I mean, it’s got 64 gigs of memory anyways, so it is not like it was a big issue anyways).

As for packing, I have been a maniac house husband. Today I had a check out/check in for AirBnB, so I had 6 loads of laundry in all to clean and fold today. Even though we will be gone 6 days, I am packing 8 days of supplies, just in case! So our bathroom bag is mainly made up of medication bottles (I feel so old). As for our cloths, we can wear the same stuff most of the time while we are actually sailing. The nicer cloths I will be bringing are for when we are on Maui. Visiting friends and seeing the Lava Fields on Maui are much better in nice, clean cloths. (And yes ‘Da Mamas’, plenty of underwear!)

I will be updating all of you as we sail and hopefully get at least two blog posts up next week, but I will be working on a few videos this time as well.

This is the trip we have been waiting for, people! BE READY!

If you would have told me 15 years ago that I would be a cancer surviving house husband living in Hawaii and owning a winery with my soon to be husband, I would have told you to fuck off. Nothing that good ever happens to me. Yet, today I woke up to the glorious Hawaii sunrise, and the beautiful Ko'olau mountains behind me, and I love it!
I am an amateur writer, foodie, cook and home maker. I want to share all of this with you as I travel and eat as well as share my struggles with keeping a clean house.
My name is Bryon, and I am The House Husband!
